THE Adventure

Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Dart - glide silently downstream, wildlife spotting as you go. With over 5 kilometres of luscious river to explore, our canoes provide a totally new perspective on the natural beauty of the Dart river.

What to expect

A lovely experience for friends, couples, families and kids; always a special adventure.

  • These Canadian style canoes have plenty of space and are very stable to paddle
  • Canoes are best paddled in twos or threes, one steering from the back, both paddling
  • Little ones as young as 3 can jump in and ride along with adults – our most popular choice for families looking for outdoor activities with pre-schoolers
  • It’s unlikely you’ll fall in, so you can wear normal clothes, but bring spares just in case
  • Buoyancy aids for all so don’t worry if you’re not a swimmer
  • 3 hours needed: including getting set up and to and from the river giving over 2 hours on the water
  • Ideal things to do outdoors with children, teens and families
  • Great if you’re looking for fun outdoor group activities
  • Kingfishers, otters, duck families, fish spotting, tiddler catching, rope-swinging, swimming
  • Back-rests available for extra support

Frequently asked questions

Can my child or I do it if we can’t swim?

Arrow down

Yes, swimming is not a prerequisite for this activity, buoyancy aids are worn at all times.

What’s the difference between canoes and kayaks?

Arrow down

Canoes are much bigger, more stable vessels than kayaks, better for travelling longer distances. Canoes are an excellent choice for younger children as they’re more stable offering lots of wiggle room for this age group.

Can I bring my elderly relative?

Arrow down

Yes, the canoes are super-stable and only need one of the two adults to paddle. We have backrests and a seat if anyone in your group needs.

Can I bring my dog?

Arrow down

Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you in your boat.
