In 2012 we took our first school group to the west coast of Canada in search of
The first thing we did was an 8 day trek down the Pacific Trail on Vancouver
Island. It was fantastic; with whales just off the beach, complete isolation for
7 days, bears, bald eagles, camping on the beach, trekking through the forest, and, most importantly, no phone signal! (Something everyone in this day and age should experience!) One of the top
rated walks in the world.
Next we worked with the Conservation Department of Canada on a reserve on the Island, building a bridge, planting indigenous trees and monitoring Blue Birds.
After a stint of sea kayaking we headed inland from Vancouver on a two week road trip across the Rockies visiting Lake Louise, Banff, and rock climbing in Squamish, then on to Calgary.
This is a phenomenal place to visit, one of our group was so inspired they went to live there for a year!
